Group Show
This December First Thursday Capitol Contemporary Gallery will have a group show of artwork by our 2022 gallery artists and host a charity silent auction of unique artist made ornaments to benefit Camp Rainbow Gold. Camp Rainbow Gold provides emotionally empowering experiences to children diagnosed with cancer and their families. We hope you’ll join us on First Thursday, December 1st from 5-9 pm for our opening reception, auction, and celebration. Bidding for the silent ornament auction will close at 8 pm. Many of our gallery artists will be in attendance, and we will be serving wine by Coiled Wines. The exhibition is free, open to the public, and runs through December 30th.
November Show
Randy Van Dyck & Sue Latta
Capitol Contemporary Gallery is pleased to announce, c o n s t r u c t, an exhibition of new paintings by Randy Van Dyck and mixed media works by Sue Latta. Randy Van Dyck will present four large scale paintings, expanding upon his concept of the transfer of place, context, and isolation— a theme he has been exploring for the last three years. Sue Latta uses photography and sculpture to exploration the concept that objects, materials, and textures, are imbued with ideas. Please join us at the gallery on First Thursday, November 3rd from 5:00 to 9:00 pm. The artists will be in attendance, and we will be serving wine by Vizcaya Winery. The show is free, open to the public, and runs through November 28th.

Betsie Richardson & Toby Davis
Capitol Contemporary Gallery is pleased to announce new exhibitions for the month of October— Farm to Table by Betsie Richardson and Windows II by Toby Davis, featuring ceramics by Susan Rooke.
Betsie Richardson presents new oil paintings that bring attention to the admirable ethics and visual exquisiteness of locally-grown, farm-fresh foods.Toby says, "The [window] scenes are the culmination of two worlds colliding, an abstract smashing together of reality on both sides of the glass - a breakdown of “the matrix” that can’t tell where your focus is, so it just throws the kitchen sink into one scene and lets you sort it out." They are odd, abstract, and at the same time beautiful. Please join us at the gallery on First Thursday, October 6th from 5:00 to 9:00 pm. Cassandra Schiffler & Richard Young
Capitol Contemporary Gallery is pleased to announce new exhibitions for the month of September— On the Edge by Cassandra Schiffler and Before the Fall by Richard Young, featuring sculpture by Francis Fox. Cassandra's paintings investigate the visual interplay that happens at the edges between one thing and another. She is interested in exploring these quiet and ambiguous spaces that occur at the borders between things. Richard presents a selection of work from a series titled A Delicate Balance completed in early 2022. Before the Fall refers to a debilitating injury he sustained in early February. Please join us at the gallery on First Thursday, September 1st from 5:00 to 9:00 pm. The artists will be in attendance, and we will be serving wine by Coiled Wines. Brooke Burton & Karen Eastman
Capitol Contemporary Gallery is pleased to announce new exhibitions for the month of August— Arborescent Goddess by Karen Eastman and I Should Have Been A Painter by Brooke Burton, featuring sculpture by Gary Holt Peer. Arborescent means “tree like in size, shape, and form”. Karen's newest series of work is a study in the power and grace of the feminine, and how she sees that energy embodied within the trunk of a tree. Brooke uses photography to tell stories about the human condition and visual culture. Firmly planted in the still life genre, she brings inanimate objects to life, using them as actors on a stage to play out narratives. Please join us at the gallery on First Thursday, August 4th from 5:00 to 9:00 pm. The artists will be in attendance, and we will be serving wine by Vizcaya Winery. Capitol Contemporary Gallery is pleased to announce new exhibitions for the month of June— Beyond by Jerri Lisk and Desert Water by Mark Lisk, featuring jewelry by Karen Klinefelter. Jerri Lisk's new series of paintings explores remote places that are off the beaten path. Mark Lisk’s current body of work explores the presence of water in our western deserts through black and white photography. Please join us on First Thursday, June 6th from 4:00 to 8:00 pm. Capitol Contemporary Gallery is pleased to announce a new exhibition for the month of May. Bold and Subtle features new work by Christine Raymond and Anne Peterson with sculpture by D’Arcy Bellamy. Raymond's new series, This Precious and Fragile Place, explores the unknown through the use of subtle and shifting colors in the painted panels. This is balanced by the quiet shimmer of hope in the gilded panels. Peterson's current body of work is her tribute to determination and creation. Capitol Contemporary Gallery is pleased to present two new exhibitions for the month of April— Come In by Linda Williams and In Honor of Antheia by Judith Lombardi. Linda Williams explores painting intimate interior scenes, while Judith Lombardi focuses on subjects from gardens and other outdoor surroundings. Josh Udesen & Connie Wood
Capitol Contemporary Gallery is pleased to present two new exhibitions for the month of March— Home, featuring Idaho inspired paintings by Josh Udesen and Echoes, a collection of encaustic and mixed media paintings by Connie Wood. In this show, Josh Udesen is investigating sense of place in his Idaho home, while Connie Wood is gleaning inspiration from Great Depression era photographs from the National Archive. Surel Mitchell, Legacy
Capitol Contemporary Gallery is pleased to partner with Surel’s Place and the Mitchell Family to bring you Legacy, a show of artworks by Surel Mitchell in celebration of her contributions to the community as an artist, coinciding with the 10 year anniversary of the organization. Our annual guest show presents a variety of drawings, paintings, collages, and mixed media works created by Surel Mitchell herself, many of which have not been shown publicly in several years. All the artwork is available for sale with proceeds being donated to Surel’s Place by the Mitchell Family. We hope you will join us for this exciting First Thursday event on February 3 from 4:00 to 8:00 pm. We will be featuring wine by Coiled Wines, whose tasting room and production facility is located in The Surel Mitchell Live-Work-Create District in Garden City. The show is free, open to the public, and runs through February 28.

John Taye & Rachel Teannalach
Capitol Contemporary Gallery announces a show of new paintings and wood sculptures by John Taye and a yearlong mixed media project by Rachel Teannalach. Rachel Teannalach’s mixed media collage, Tree, is composed of 108 one-foot squares. The individual pieces form a collage of a one-hundred-year-old apple tree. John Taye is presenting paintings from his travels through many of the western states, from Alaska to Arizona and states in between. The artists will be in attendance on First Thursday on January 6 from 4:00 to 8:00 pm. Vizcaya winery will be joining us and serving wine by the glass. The show is free, open to the public, and runs through January 31.
